As part of our topic Winter Wonderland, Reception have been learning all about the season of Winter, Winter around the world, Winter celebrations and festivals. In our first week of term we learned all about Bonfire Night and why we celebrate it. We produced some lovely firework artwork and used loose parts to create our own representations of Fireworks. We also discussed how to stay safe on Bonfire Night and read some Bonfire Night themed poetry.
In Week 2, our focus story was a book called ‘Here Comes Jack Frost’. We were inspired by the illustrations and so created our own wax-resist Winter artwork using crayons and Brusho. We also learned all about Remembrance and had lots of discussions about it’s importance.
In Week 3, we continued our learning on the season of Winter and were lucky enough to go on a visit to the Ward Library. Gemma the Librarian read us some lovely winter stories and had prepared some fantastic activities for us all to do. Thank you for a lovely morning, Gemma!
