The Eco-Schools children recently visited St.John's as a reward for their hard work with recycling, litter picking and gardening this year. They visited the Aboretum where children identified different species of trees, recording over 20 species of trees. They also identified some birds using a bird-song app. Next, they were hosted by Bunscoill Gaelgagh (Manx language school) where the children looked at their garden area, outdoor classroom and pond. Lunch was taken at Cooil y Ree (see photo) before visiting Garey yn Ellan Ain - the community garden opposite St.John's School. Last week, the children will be harvesting the onions and potatoes from the school garden which will be donated to The Big Table - a weekly community meal at St. German's Cathedral.
