Over the last couple of weeks, some of our Year 6 pupils have been lucky enough to be involved in the Arts Council’s ‘60 over 60: Faces of Mann’ project.
'60 Over 60: Faces of Mann' is a community-driven portraiture project by local artist, Debra Tracey-Carney, of Isle Be Creative, that aims to honour the contributions of Manx men and women, past or present, who have made a positive impact on the Island.
We welcomed six of the local nominated ladies and gentlemen to our school, where our children had the opportunity to get to know them, and sketch their portraits for this very special project. Debra, the organiser, was on hand to help and support our artists with their portraits which we were very thankful for.
Our fabulous children, Xander, Isaac, Stanlagh, Freya, Mollie and Ava were an absolute credit to our school throughout our sessions. They took the responsibility of capturing each nominee very seriously, and reflected what they’d learned about each one into their portraits.
We’re sure you’ll agree, their completed efforts are fantastic. The portraits will be unveiled at the Hodgson Loom Gallery in Laxey in November, and also compiled into a downloadable book.
