Peel Clothworkers’ have had a hugely successful year at the Manx Music Festival! We are extremely proud of our all of our choirs, they have been an absolute credit to us and represented the school so well.
Last Friday afternoon our KS2 choir performed two contrasting songs in the Mixed Choirs class in the Royal Hall of the Villa Marina. It was a very popular class with 8 choirs entered. All choirs sang beautifully but Peel Clothworkers’ were crowned the winners with an amazing score of 87! They looked so smart in their shirts and ties, and it’s fair to say their reaction to winning was a joy to watch! A big thank you to Mrs Fairbairn, Mrs Whitmore and our accompanist Dr Litman for all their hard work preparing the choir.
Friday evening was the turn of the Community Choir, where our wonderful teachers and children came together to perform 3 songs in the Community Choirs class. Under the direction of the amazing Katie Lawrence, our choir won their class against some very tough competition. Their singing and harmonies were exceptional. Thanks so much to Katie Lawrence for her hard work, and for giving up her Friday mornings to sing with us. Thanks also to Gareth Moore for his wonderful accompaniment.
On Saturday morning the KS1 choir performed two beautiful songs in the Royal Hall in their infant choirs class. Again, the choir sang so beautifully, and they were so brave to perform on such a large stage in front of an audience! They smiled their way through their performances and we are so proud of them! They came 2nd in their class and received lovely comments from the adjudicator. Huge thanks to Mrs O’Connor, Miss Parkinson and Miss Willoughby for all their hard work with the choir, and to Dr Litman for accompanying.
Well done to all our Choirs – it was certainly a weekend to remember for our school, and our trophy cabinet is looking a lot more full this week!
