What a fabulous start to the week the children have had! The weather has been kind, behaviour has been great and a lot of fun has been had.
Day 1:
After arriving at the Venture Centre on Monday, once dropping bags off in dorms, the children set off for some orienteering before lunch. The children were then spilt into groups, some went down to Mooragh Lake whilst others went up to the High Ropes and Night Line. In the evening, after a chicken nugget tea, they set off on a lovely coastal walk along Maughold Head. The children were certainly ready for bed after this and all settled down well in their dorms.
Day 2:
The first full day started with a delicious breakfast with plenty of options - the sausage and beans being the favourites! As a group together, they headed for Dhoon Glen in the mini buses. A muddy walk down the glen lead the children to the beach where camp was set up. The children learnt fire starting skills, explored rock pools, skimmed stones and had a very tasty lunch cooked on the fire. A hike back up the glen lead to the electric tram stop. The children all got on the tram to Ballaglass Glen for an afternoon of gorge walking, which was such great fun! After tea the children once again split into groups for some archery, rifle shooting and crossbow before story time with Miss Halsall in the common room.
