'Enjoyable Learning for Life'

World Book Day takes place on Thursday 3rd March 2022, and we would like to invite you to join us in helping your child to make the most of this special occasion. World Book Day celebrates the joy and value of books and reading, especially for children.

To help them get started on their reading journey, each child will receive a £1 World Book Day Book Token that can be exchanged for a selection of special £1 World Book Day books at selected bookshops. You can find out more about the books at worldbookday.com/books.

On the Thursday 3rd March, as part of our World Book Day celebrations, we would like to invite pupils to dress up as a character from their favourite book if they wish.

We are also holding optional book themed competitions for KS1 and KS2 with prizes for each year group:
KS1 - Get creative and turn fruit or vegetables into a book character. There are lots of idea online!
KS2 - Decorate a rock to look like your favourite book cover.

If you wish to enter the KS1/KS2 competition, please bring in your entry to class on Thursday 3rd March to be judged as part of the celebrations. Please ensure that it is named.

If any parents would like to share a story with their child’s class on World Book Day, please get intouch with their class teacher to arrange a suitable time. You can join us in building your child’s enthusiasm for books well beyond World Book Day by reading together regularly and joining your local library if you are not yet members. For more information about World Book Day and ideas on sharing books at home, visit worldbookday.com.

Children are never too young to start their journey with books, and the benefits of reading are enormous—so we hope, like us, you will use World Book Day to celebrate it with your child.

Happy reading!
