Dear Parents/Carers,
School ICT Devices at Home
We understand the challenges of home learning, especially issues with technology. During this period, we would like to help in any way that we can. As such, we are able to loan a school device for Home Learning during this lockdown period.
It should be noted that these devices have a built in wireless network capability. In light of this, your child will be able to connect to any home network you may have and browse the internet using the school device. The Department of Education, Sport and Culture is happy for children to access the internet from home with the device, however, it should be noted that the Department cannot be held responsible for content accessed via your home connection. In school, the children are subject to internet filtering so that unsuitable sites are blocked. It is therefore recommended that children access the internet whilst in a place from which they can be adequately supervised.
Social networking sites or chat rooms (e.g Facebook) must not be accessed using school devices. These learning devices would not be used for this purpose in school and we would have the same expectation for their use at home. Please note that most social networking sites have age restrictions (e.g. Facebook 13, Twitter 18).
There is an agreement form for you to sign before you can come and collect a device, outlining your and your child’s responsible use of the device and some simple guidelines. Please return this form, or a positive response via email to christopher.hill@sch.im before Wednesday 17th March at 9am. We will be allocating devices on a first come, first serve basis. You will then receive some guidance about collecting the device.
I hope you will agree that this is a fantastic opportunity for your child and we very much hope that it enhances your child’s home learning experience for as long as it is needed.
Yours sincerely
Mrs T Quayle (Acting Headteacher)
